“Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.” – Thich Nhat Hanh
I have been helping people from different backgrounds work on complex challenges for over 20 years. I have worked in many different settings and in a variety of roles in mental health services. I have experience treating depression, anxiety, trauma, grief & loss, end of life issues, substance use disorder, autism, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. The benefits I have gained from these experiences have helped me to understand the importance of self-care and self-compassion. Safety is of the upmost importance to me during the therapeutic process. I seek to make my clients feel as comfortable as possible. I am humbled by the trust placed in me when clients share intimate details of their thoughts, feelings, emotions, behaviors, and lived experiences with me. I take that trust very seriously.
I chose to enter the Mental Health field because I enjoy helping people achieve their goals. I seek to understand where my clients are coming from in order to meet them where they’re at. My perspective is from a strength-based, solution focus approach viewing my clients through a lens of empowerment & unconditional positive regard.
I can help with you with managing depression, managing anxiety, working through trauma, conflict resolution, grief & loss issues, end of life acceptance, and tapering down to eventually abstaining from problematic substance use working from a harm reduction model.
I work with people from any age group, race, cultural background, ethnicity, political affiliation, creed or religion, gender: defined or non-binary, education level, country of origin, and socio-economic status. I believe each client is unique and that people come to therapy for many different reasons. Your goals and overall well-being are important to me. I look forward to working with you and helping you on your path.
